Thinking Ahead

Bags are packed----almost----ready to go! Everyone (we hope) will be getting up early and making their way to the Austin train station. We're going to try to post a blog while we're on the train, but we may not be able to until we get to the hotel in Chicago on Friday evening. If we can't post until then, we'll post a long one.

Just in case, we'll post some thoughts in advance, so you'll have something to read until Friday. We can probably anticipate a lot about the train trip. Here we go---

The engine blasted its horn, and the train's underway. Wow, it's great exploring all the cars, up and down the length of the train. How many round trips can we make before dinner? We've found the lounge car with snacks. Many look edible. It's good we brought many of our own snacks to keep us going for the first 45 minutes or so. We don't know how many miles we can knock back with twenty-five rounds of kumbaya, but we'll probably end up with an accurate count before the trip's done. Several choir members have come down with the slap-happy giggles.

The coach seats sit pretty well---we'll revisit this issue about 2 a.m. LOL

We're all getting packed and ready to go on the AmTrak train to Chicago. Right now, we're busy counting up shirts, socks, and Nintendo games. We leave bright and early tomorrow, assembling at the Austin train station at 8:30, departing for Chicago at 9:30 a.m. We'll have lots of snacks, singing, shouting, scrambling, and, hopefully some sleeping, as we clickety-clack through the countryside for about 20 hours! We will arrive in Chicago around 5 p.m. Friday, June 12th.
